Colt Model 1902 Military .38 ACP - Serial Number 35278, with Target Sights and Factory checked Front Strap, Back Strap and Trigger

Colt Model 1902 Military Serial Number 35278 - This Colt Model 1902 Military .38 ACP has some unique features and factory enhancements.  It was returned to the Colt factory at some point since it has a "K" stamped on the upper right flat of the trigger guard. After the checking on the frame and trigger were complete, Colt's restamped the horse on the left rear of the slide and reblued the gun.

It appears as though a previous owner was interested in creating a target pistol as the sights are a patridge type and the rear sight has been modified to incorporate a target sight blade.  The trigger, front strap and back strap have been checkered in a factory pattern.  Given the cost of this work, very few factory checkered guns were produced.

This Colt 1902 Military serial number 35278 was one of 60 shipped to A. Combaluzier, Mexico City, Mexico on June 16, 1913.
